Roberto Gianola is a Italian conductor active in the repertoire opera, symphonic and ballet, with a career developed between Italy and international contexts.
Born in Lecco in 1974, he trained musically at the Milan Conservatory, where he obtained a diploma in trumpet, initially starting an intense orchestral activity.
After initial experiences as instrumentalist in the opera field, he began his career as a conductor, dedicating himself to the great Italian and Romantic European opera repertoire. Over the years, he has conducted opera and ballet productions in numerous European and non-European theatres.
He was for many years Music Director of the Opera House in Istanbul . He is currently the Permanent Director of the Izmir Opera House

Theatres and Musical Institutions
Throughout his career, Roberto Gianola has collaborated with some of the most important opera houses, opera foundations and international symphony orchestras, establishing itself as conductor specialising in opera and ballet repertoire. In Italy, he has directed at leading institutions such as the Arena di Verona Foundation, the Cagliari Opera House, the Verdi Theatre of Trieste and the Giglio Theatre of Lucca.
Since 2014 he has held a permanent position at the Istanbul Opera House, where he directed numerous productions of opera and classical ballet.
Internationally, he has been a guest in prestigious concert halls such as the Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Centre and the Musikverein, as well as collaborating with theatres and orchestras in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East.

Lake Como Music Academy
For over 20 years Roberto Gianola promotes and organises high-level musical events on Lake Como, contributing significantly to the cultural development of the area.
Roberto Gianola organises most of his initiatives in Bellano, the “village of artists” on Lake Como - among the most beautiful villages in Italy and awarded the Best Tourism Villages prize by the United Nations Tourism Agency for cultural and scenic excellence
With an artistic vision combined with a solid managerial approach, he expanded the local music offering with opera productions, symphonic concerts and international training projects.
After successful competitions and masterclasses, he founded the Lake Como Academy, an advanced training centre dedicated to opera singing, opera and musical interpretation, flanked by the Lake Como Philharmonic Orchestra, an orchestral reality that has been carrying out an intense concert and training activity of international scope for over twenty-five years.
